Design-led, and the engineering usually backs it up
Fellow arrived through crowdfunding with products that photographed extremely well, which is usually a warning sign. Two of them turned out to be genuinely the best in their category, and it is worth being clear about why.
The Stagg EKG is the best-pouring kettle sold, and the reason is not the display everyone photographs. A counterbalanced handle keeps the kettle level as it empties, where conventional kettles get top-heavy and wobble at exactly the moment the coffee bed is most vulnerable. The hold function — keeping temperature while you grind and rinse — matters far more than the one-degree increments.
The Ode Gen 2 does the opposite of what most grinders attempt. It refuses espresso entirely and spends its whole budget on 64 mm flat burrs for filter, which is why it out-grinds do-everything grinders at the same price. Designing for one range is how it gets its consistency.
Fellow’s products are expensive for what they fundamentally are, and that is a fair criticism. They are not, as is often assumed, style over substance.

Best for: V60, Chemex, AeroPress and batch brewing, where clarity is the whole point.

The best-pouring kettle sold, and the hold function matters more than the thermometer. Expensive for boiling water — but if you brew pour-over daily, it is the accessory that most improves the cup.
Best for: Daily pour-over, where flow rate is the variable you are trying to control.
